Poor Fuel Economy Standards Hurt GM, US

General Motors just posted its third largest loss in 100 years.

Their aggressive strategy of promoting large gas guzzlers turned out to be a losing bet.

As Toyota's fortunes continue to rise, though they are based in a country with some of the highest fuel economy standards in the world, one wonders what a little bit of governmental regulation could have done to preserve jobs and the economic force of General Motors in this country.
